Sustainability

At Vianne, we talk about sustainability because it’s built into the core of our brand. Not for image. Not for marketing. But because it’s how fashion should be made. This page exists to show exactly what we mean when we say “sustainable”, and to answer the questions of people who care deeply about doing things right.

  • Fabric Appliques

For select pieces, we use secondhand denim, to create one-of-a-kind appliques. Denim is one of the most resource-intensive fabrics to produce. Using secondhand denim is one of the most sustainable choices we can make. We help avoid up to 10 kg of COemissions and 1,800 gallons of water for every pair of jeans we divert from landfill. It diverts high-impact textiles from landfills, reduces demand for virgin materials, and gives new life to something that already exists.

We are proud of our low-waste design process and our use of safe, non-toxic materials. All pigments and adhesives used in our appliqué process are water-based and free from harmful substances. Our commitment is not only to sustainability but also to health and safety, for our customers, our team, and the planet.

  • Responsible Sourcing

    Standard Blanks

Our standard blanks are sourced from a U.S.- based supplier focused on manufacturing clothing in an environmentally conscious way. They minimize impact at every step, from water and energy usage to waste and packaging. Some of these textiles are certified under OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, which ensures that the final product is free from harmful chemicals, toxic dyes, and heavy metals.

    Premium Blanks

Our premium blanks come from a LA-based manufacturer with a deeper focus on domestic sourcing and sustainability. Over half of their yarn comes from U.S. farms and mills, and they use organic, recycled, or reclaimed cotton wherever possible. They also follow California’s strictest environmental regulations for dyeing and finishing, ensuring low-impact processing from start to finish. These pieces are designed to last longer, feel better, and offer a higher standard for sustainable basics.

  • Reducing Environmental Impact

So far, we’ve created around 800 upcycled pieces using secondhand denim, thrifted fabric, and leftover scraps, for appliques each one replacing the need for newly manufactured fabric.

    Based on apparel industry research:

    • Each piece saves approximately 1.5 to 2 pounds of fabric
    • Each pound of reused cotton avoids 15 to 20 pounds of CO₂ emissions

From that, we estimate having diverted 1,200 to 1,600 pounds of fabric from landfills and prevented 18,000 to 32,000 pounds of CO₂ emissions. That’s equivalent to driving a gas-powered car 18,000 to 32,000 miles or charging over 2 million smartphones.

And this is just one way we stay accountable to our values. From certified low-impact blanks and secondhand appliqués to our made-to-order model and no-waste production systems, every part of Vianne is built to shift the standard, not just follow it.

Where Sustainability Meets Ethics

All garments are thoughtfully sewn by local seamstresses and college students in collaboration with Goodwill South Florida, where 75% of sewing operators are individuals with disabilities or barriers to employment. Each piece supports inclusive job creation and is stitched with dignity, care, and craftsmanship.

When you shop Vianne, you’re supporting a movement that values people and planet above all else. From thoughtful materials to community-focused production, we’re creating fashion that feels good and does good.

Style That Breathes Life

Sustainably crafted, ethically driven, and led by the next generation, our pieces reflect more than just style.

They represent a shift.

Together, we’re building something bigger, one Vianne piece at a time.
